412 Food Rescue Are Recipients of Billie Eilish’s Changemaker Program

The groundbreaking food rescue is among the beneficiaries of Eilish’s HIT ME HARD AND SOFT: THE TOUR

Thanks to Billie Eilish and her fans, through Eilish’s groundbreaking Changemaker Program, a donation from her North American tour was made to  412 Food Rescue via REVERB, a nonprofit entrusted by Eilish to steward the distribution of these funds across North America through their Climate Impact Fund.

Eilish’s sold-out HIT ME HARD AND SOFT: THE TOUR has raised $11.5 million to help support important organizations, projects and voices dedicated to food equity, climate justice, reducing carbon pollution, and other crucial environmental work in combating the climate crisis.

At 412 Food Rescue, Eilish’s donation will support the work of redirecting good food away from the waste stream and into the communities that need it most. Since its founding in 2015, the organization has rescued over 39 million pounds of food and redistributed it to nonprofits serving food-insecure households in Western Pennsylvania — mitigating over 81 million pounds of CO2 emissions in the process.

This is the second time that Eilish and her team have contributed to the work of 412 Food Rescue. Ahead of Eilish’s 2022 concert in Pittsburgh, her mother and Support+Feed founder Maggie Baird, donated surplus vegan meals leftover from the crew, which 412 Food Rescue distributed to an organization serving food-insecure people in downtown Pittsburgh.

“We’re thrilled to receive this donation from Billie, who has done so much to support climate action and food security on her tours,” says 412 Food Rescue CEO Alyssa Cholodofsky. “As we prepare to meet both increased food waste and heightened food needs over the holiday season, her contribution will be immediately put to use ensuring that good food feeds our communities and not our landfills.”

She adds, “We invite people everywhere to join Billie in supporting our work – and to double their impact –  by making a donation to 412 Food Rescue on Giving Tuesday, December 2.”
